So we are living in a digital age, & the times are changing fast as never before. And so is the current generation too. Dear reader, you might fall in the Parent category or on the Child front, but the point is.. how good is your communication with your parent/child?
A child, genuinely requires his parents in all walks of life, but our traditional parenting patterns fail to understand this & rather focus more on imposing our thought process on them. Right from adolescence to adulthood, as a natural progression of one’s EQ(Emotional Quotient), some things that one might have witnessed in childhood can stick to memory for an entire lifetime & change the entire behavior pattern of your child.
Lack of Communication between child & parent can be damaging. Children often avoid sharing their thoughts with their parents as an impact of strict behavioural pattern, & tend to keep it to themselves. This eventually leads the child to galloping in low self esteem. The reasons between this ever increasing distance can be different attitudes & perspectives, technological gap, unnecessary control, unrealistic expectations. Pressuring your child without understanding the reasons behind why they do , the things they do, will only worsen the scenario. Organize family activities such as a picnic, party at home, or some fun trip and spend quality time with your family. Do things with them that will help nurture your bond with them. After all you got only one family, and you are lucky!!
Although it is not easy to resolve the issues between a parent and a child, however, it can be easily bridged if parents try to communicate with children on a daily basis, sharing even the smallest bit, trying to create a bond of friendship with them. It is better to analyze any situation and react healthily to avoid any confrontations and definitely not, punishment. Parents should give them enough space so that children can frankly share their problems with them and understand their situation from their standpoint.
